Cure TMJD Without Injections, Appliances, or Surgery

Natural Pain Relief From TMJD With a 98% Success Rate

We don’t simply treat symptoms, we treat the root cause.

What is TMJD?

TMJD (also just called TMJ), is a disorder of the temporomandibular joint in your jaw. The condition frequently causes pain in the jaw, neck, face, or shoulders – and even the back, hips, legs, and feet. It can also cause symptoms like migraines, ringing in the ears, and jaw clicking.

TMJD Rarely Requires
Invasive Treatment

Before coming to Mojo Physio, most of our patients have tried just about everything from medications and painful injections to appliances and even surgery. What’s the common theme with these treatments? They don’t work – or we wouldn’t have clients coming to us for help!

How does Mojo Physio treat tmjd?

We treat TMJD through a 100% natural, specialized therapy called Neuromuscular Release Therapy (NRT), and it is largely unknown to doctors and dentists. We utilize NRT to retrain the brain to stop sending signals to the muscles that are causing the tension and pain. In just a few sessions, a majority of our clients have complete relief.

Real People.
Real pain relief.

Listen to what real TMJ patients have to say...
Paul fixes TMJ, and undoubtedly has a gift when it comes to healing. After a few sessions with him, my headaches, insomnia, and lockjaw decreased significantly, more than justifying the cost associated with his services. He also taught me at-home practices that I can do on my own to alleviate symptoms when they arise, and I left his practice feeling all around educated and more in touch with what I was actually dealing with.

When I first went to Paul for my TMJ I was honestly pretty skeptical. This had been an issue for me since I was in high school. I had been to several different dentists and tried several different mouth guards and nothing had ever worked.
When Paul told me he could get me relief in just a few hours I thought to myself "there is no way." Sure enough, after my first session I woke up the next day completely pain free.
I actually didn't know how bad the pain and tightness was, until it was gone. I chewed gum, ate an apple, and made it the entire day without a headache. I don't know what it is that Paul does, but it is magic. I highly recommend him.

Mojo Physio is the best! Before I met Paul, I have had muscle pain for continuous years. After a few back to back treatments, I noticed a significant change. I have told anyone and everyone I know, or meet that has muscle pain to go see Paul. I am a dedicated customer and will continue to go to Mojo Physio.

I have chronic TMJ and have suffered from throbbing facial/jaw pain/dental pain. IN the past, doctors have prescribed painkillers, vitamins, multiple mouth guards - none of which have eased my pain. My dentist recommended I give Paul a try. I was very skeptical but after my first appointment I started to get relief.

I had the pleasure of meeting and receiving treatment from Paul Ruth in February 2019. Not only did he completely get rid of my neck and jaw pain, of 30+ years, but he also straightened my leg that caused sciatic nerve pinching. You are wasting time and money if you don't go and check his work out. I am forever grateful for my pain-free future. Thank you Paul, you're the best!

As a dentist, I know how the muscles on the face and Temporomandibular Complex can affect a patient's wellbeing. As a patient, I know how debilitating it can be! The muscles of the head, neck and shoulders are all interrelated. Seeing Paul Ruth over the years not only alleviated much of my pain, but enabled me to actually work more comfortably for years. I highly recommend him to all. Thanks Paul!

I'm overall just happier! It's really that simple. Paul's treatments are simplistic and pure, but it's also the most effective in my experience. He has me as a client for life. I truly can not continue to practice dentistry without him. He fixed my own TMJ in only two sessions and I only refer my TMJ patients to Paul.

I have had TMJ since I was 12 years old with jaw/neck pain, limited mobility, clenching, and headaches. I tried many different therapies to relieve the pain. Orthodontia, Acupuncture, chiropractors etc... all with little to no relief. Then someone recommended Paul Ruth at Mojo Physio. After my first session with him, I was pain free for days. That was the first time in a long time I had been pain free. I continued sessions with Paul based on his recommendation. I am virtually pain free these days. It's so amazing to have relief from the pain and headaches. Thanks to Mojo Physio, my life has changed!

Frequently Asked Questions

How often do I have to come get treatment?

In order to change years of neuromuscular imbalance and protective patterning, consistency is the single most important factor at first. We insist our clients receive a minimum of at least one (60-minute) NRT session per week for the first 4 weeks. If scheduling and time allow, we will schedule two NRT sessions per week for even faster results. This means you can be pain-free in less than half a work day. What is that worth to you?

What is the true source of chronic pain?

You injured yourself years ago but you still hurt & suffer. Most people think that the initial injury is “why” they still suffer. The reality is that you healed from that initial injury within a few weeks or months after you got it. So If you’ve healed then why do you still hurt? The answer is very simple, but very few professionals look at the body the way we do.

You’re simply “stuck” in all of the muscular compensation (protective) patterns that allowed you to heal in the first place. This incredibly basic and logical phenomenon is what makes relief from chronic pain so evasive. We understand that the SOURCE of nearly ALL prolonged chronic pain comes from simple muscle imbalance.

How is NRT different from other treatments?

What sets NRT apart from all other pain treatment and muscle modalities is its basis upon natural body function and the recognition of the brain's involvement during the treatment and recovery process. In other words, it is the brain’s job to allow healing to take place, but it is also the brain’s job to provide protection to injured areas.

Oftentimes, this brain based process of protecting an injured area results in other muscle or soft tissue imbalances throughout the body. A therapist who recognizes and only treats the primary injury (or site of pain), and ignores related imbalance or functional issues, will provide partial or short-term relief for the client. For example, chronic pain of the Achilles tendon in the right ankle will cause an individual to shift their weight or favor the right side resulting in an asymmetric abnormality of the way they walk.

Untreated over time, this protective neurological response will wreak havoc on the body by creating one or more additional functional imbalances or soft tissue problems.

What should I expect during NRT treatment?

During NRT treatments, areas within the body’s muscular system stuck in a protective (reflex) spasm are identified and ultimately released. Muscles stuck in a protective spasm cannot function normally. These spasms create prolonged chronic pain, and they also prohibit optimal performance creating issues in routine body function.

During NRT treatment the therapist seeks out the neurological (brain) response within the body through palpation (touch). The body’s neurological or brain-led response to palpation leads the NRT therapist to the unhealthy muscle or soft tissue areas. Based on the reaction to palpation, the therapist determines how much work is needed. The use of NRT manual therapy techniques, coupled with the understanding of how the systems of the body work together, eliminates the guesswork that often plagues many practitioners.

Most individuals achieve a 50-80% reduction in pain following their first treatment session. Typically, four to six treatments are all that's necessary to retrain the brain, eliminate protective patterning, and achieve full functional balance.

Is NRT expensive compared to other pain clinics or doctors?

At Mojo Physio, the typical number of treatments to fix a client’s chronic pain averages around 4 sessions. More difficult cases can require a few more sessions, but over our 25-year history, 4 sessions seem to be the sweet spot to get someone completely pain-free. This means that for an average of less than $1,800 out of pocket, we resolve your chronic pain and get you back to living a healthy and active lifestyle.

A typical pain treatment clinic or doctor of any other sort will consist of nerve blocks, surgeries, nerve ablations, epidurals, physical therapy, or pain medication and narcotics. Although most of these standard treatments are covered by insurance, you’ll end up paying more out of pocket over a lifetime of treatments than you will at Mojo Physio. This is because the standard treatments covered by insurance companies don’t last, don’t address or fix the true source of your pain and force you to keep coming back for the rest of your life.

What if I see other places or doctors for my pain?

NRT can and does replace many traditional treatments such as physical therapy, chiropractic care, or pain management programs — but it can also be used in conjunction with these treatments for even faster results.

Why don’t you take health insurance coverage?

Unfortunately, insurance companies don’t recognize most of the treatments and clinics that actually work for people. We do provide you with a receipt that has the proper CPT codes for our procedures so you can submit a claim to your insurance company.

Does NRT hurt?

Hurt? No. Do you feel it? Yes. In the 25 years we’ve been doing NRT we have never had anyone say, “STOP, give me a break, I can’t handle this”. You will know that you are getting worked on, but you will not have to endure pain.

What should I bring with me to my first appointment and what should I wear?

All we ask you to bring with you is a little HOPE, an open mind, and a great attitude. We’ll take it from there. For your treatment, just wear something loose and comfortable like workout attire. We do ask that you try and avoid wearing tight-fitting things like jeans. Yoga pants are fine!
